Billingham made the midweek trip to neighbours Thornaby and left empty handed in a 1-0 defeat.

A close fought game was decided by the only goal of the game late in the first half when in the 43rd minute Thornaby advanced and LUCA NELSON found the net with his shot from inside the box.

Synners pressed in search of a leveller in the second period but couldn't find the net in a frustrating night at Teasdale Park.
