Billingham made the midweek trip to Chester-le-Street Town and left empty handed in a 1-0 defeat.
Both sides had chances in the opening exhanges with Synners midfielder Andrew Stephenson seeing a shot just past the post. The Cestrians had a shot from the right which also went just past the post.
After the break Synthonia looked to create more chances but in the main the home keeper was left untoubled.
Billingham were reduced to ten men in the 75th minute when McKellan Lines was shown a straight red card following a late challenge on Will Cornish near the touch-line in midfield.
Chester-le-Street claimed the three points with the only goal of the game in the 80th minute when a right wing saw MICHAEL GRAY turn and get a touch on the ball to see it into the net.
